Ruby’s Sick but Will Be Okay

I’ve alluded to this on my FaceBook page, but not with much detail so I figured I post something about it here.

We noticed over the last couple weeks that Ruby would have bouts where her breathing would become fast and shallow. We didn’t think much about it at first because Toy Poodles have windpipe issues anyway. Late last week though, her “funny” breathing became the norm, so we got worried. We took her to the vet, and come to find out, she has a heart murmur, pneumonia, and an enlarged heart. The vet put her on antibiotics for the pneumonia, and on Lasix for the fluid in her lungs and heart. Needless to say, she’s MUCH better. Once these rounds of meds are done, she’ll go in for another check-up and then she’ll be put on a daily medication for her heart murmur. So, she should be fine, she’ll just need to take her murmur pill for the rest of her life. Thanks to everyone who expressed their concern!

Tron 2 is on its Way!

Quicktime Movie (Right click -> Save As)

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Disney presented a Tron 2 trailer to everyone’s surprise. The video began with a spectacular lightcycle race sequence, ending with one bike crashing. The CGI is excellent, and the sequence was very well directed. One of the most exciting parts about the trailer was that it revealed the return of Jeff Bridges as “Flynn.” Fans applauded his appearance in the trailer heavily. Another plus for the film is that John Lasseter of Pixar fame is producing the movie. He’s produced and directed many of Pixar’s most memorable films. Currently, Tron 2 is slated for a release date of 2011, but I don’t sense that date is very “official.”

I can’t wait for this movie to be released to theaters. It should be a blast. My only confusion is that the original “Tron” movie was named after Bruce Boxleitner’s character “Tron.” If he’s not in the sequel, where does the movie get its name? My guess would be from v2.0 of “Tron” who doesn’t look like Bruce Boxleitner. 😉

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

One of my favorite Sci-Fi writers, Joss Whedon wrote and produced this musical blog about an aspiring super villian, Dr. Horrible (played by the awesome Neil Patrick Harris) and his obsession with the girl of his dreams. Whedon regular, Nathon Fillion (who rules btw) plays Dr. Horrible’s arch-nemesis, Captain Hammer. The ADORABLE Felicia Day, also familiar to Whedon fans, plays Dr Horrible’s love interest. This video is very entertaining. Watch it soon, it’s only available online for a limited time!

Wall-E – First Family Movie

We went on our first family movie outing this Sunday to see Wall-E at Mission Valley. I love that Cinema. I still remember seeing Return of the Jedi there when in came out in ’83. It’s a locally owned theater, and I enjoy supporting local businesses. But I digress. The boys did great at the movie. Surprisingly, Connor was the quietest and most patient. He sat through the whole movie with very little complaining. He just stared at the screen with his chin rested on his hand, and enjoyed the movie. Liam was very well behaved too, but toward the end of the movie he started getting restless, and said he wanted to go home. Chrissy say him on her lap, and we finished the movie without further incident. The movie was great. I think it’s my #2 favorite Pixar movie, with The Incredibles still at #1. #3 would have to be Finding Nimo, but all 3 of these movies are separeted by a very narrow margin. I highly recommend you see Wall-E if you’re a Pixar fan. It’s one of their best.
